30 new top cyber security advisors appointed to the EU Agency ENISA’s Permanent Stakeholders’ Group
New Permanent Stakeholders’ Group (PSG) of top IT-security advisors appointed.
Published on August 31, 2012
A new composition of 30 top IT-security experts have started their term of office as members of ENISA’s Permanent Stakeholders’ Group (PSG). The PSG will give top IT security advice to the EU’s ‘cyber security’ Agency ENISA, the European Network and Information Security Agency. The PSG is a group of leading IT-security experts that gives advice to the Agency’s Executive Director in, for example, drawing up a proposal for the Agency's annual Work Programme.
The selected applicants are appointed personally, ‘ad personam’ as PSG Members. That means that they neither represent a country, nor a company, but are selected upon the basis of their own specific expertise and personal merits. The term of office for the members is 2.5 years, i.e. 2012-2015. The first meeting of the new PSG will take place on 13 September 2012, in Athens. The Executive Director of ENISA, Prof. Udo Helmbrecht, comments:
“I am delighted to be able to announce the appointment of 30 dedicated top cyber security advisors as members of this new PSG. The information security of Europe needs more cooperation, dialogue and interaction with all the security stakeholders. The PSG therefore plays a crucial role in this respect, giving us cutting-edge input from EU industry, academia and consumers. I am thus looking forward to working closely with the entire new PSG. I am confident that their individual expertise will contribute with valuable insights and ideas to the Agency. As Chair of the PSG, I will closely involve them in ENISA’s future work, and I will in particular value their advice on the Agency’s Work Programme.”
Background:
Earlier this year, an open Call for Expression of Interest for Membership of the PSG was issued. Subsequent to a short-listing of a number of applicants, the Executive Director of ENISA selected 30 experts, informed the Agency Management Board of his decision and appointed the experts ad personam as members of the new PSG.
