Closer cooperation on Data Breach Notifications between ENISA & Art. 29 Data Protection Working Party

The Agency and the Art. 29 Data Protection Working Party agreed to intensify their cooperation on Data Breach Notifications, at a meeting recently taking place in Brussels.

The Agency Executive Director, Professor Udo Helmbrecht, attended the Article 29 Working Party’s plenary meeting to present and discuss the work done by ENISA,  and the topics both the Agency and the Working Party have an interest in, notably on Data Breach Notifications. Both ENISA and the Working Party recognise the benefits of cooperation. Therefore they jointly decided to intensify their dialogue, at a recent meeting in Brussels (13-14 October).

Background information

  • The European data protection authorities (the Article 29 Working Party on the Protection of Individuals with regard to the Processing of Personal Data) is an independent advisory body on data protection and privacy.
  • It is composed of representatives from the national Data Protection authorities of the EU Member States, the European Data Protection Supervisor, and the European Commission.
  • The Article 29 Working Party is competent to examine any question covering the application of the data protection directives.The objective is to contribute to the uniform application of the directives, by issuing recommendations, opinions and working documents.
